Markus Altmann captures the city’s 1990s. Stephanie Diani introduces the legends behind burlesque while Stefanie Mohammer shows why Las Vegas is called the “strip-club capital of the World”. Sin City Then and now
“As seen by Markus Altmann in 1995, Las Vegas95 shows the city as it was in the middle of its transformation, from a gambling town into a family entertainment megapolis with mega hotels, theme parks, and other attractions. Altmann is fascinated by the new facades, and their relationship to the more authentic surroundings of the old ones. He weaves surreal and almost otherworldly photos that seem to be set at once in the past and the future.

Stefanie’s Moshammer Portraits from
the Strip Club Capital of the World

When Stefanie Mohammer spent two months in Las Vegas, she didn’t spend her days sunbathing at Caesars Palace pool or visiting the Bellagio Casino at night. The Austrian photographer was pursuing a completely different goal. She was fascinated by the lives of those living behind the glamorous facade of Sin City. She set out to photograph Las Vegas strippers, their hotel rooms, pink Cadillacs and nightclubs. The series Vegas and She depicts a Las Vegas that we do not see.
