Finn Beales , a Welsh photographer, spends three days in each country to get acquainted with the culture and scenery.

place. He searches for the holes in walls, peels back layers of paint to reveal the heartbeats and throbs of each place. He is drawn to the mountain air and the smell of faraway lands.

The photographer’s diary, 72 Hours in… chronicles his travels to dozens of towns and cities. When he’s commissioned to shoot abroad, he takes the time to develop a personal relationship with each location and create images that he will never show to his clients. While on the move, he never leaves home without his camera.

Beales admits that he loves wide-open spaces the most. He is most drawn to those natural wonders which make him feel like a tiny speck, floating in the vast terrain.

Beales learned that he could trust locals’ wisdom, even when there was a language barrier. He is constantly seeking new places, new experiences and moments that are both simple and extraordinary. He describes climbing up an erupting volcanic peak as “a pretty brutal journey but worth every step.” This sentiment can certainly be applied to his many expeditions.
